Six cadets from 1297 Sqn recently visited RAF Kinloss and 663 Volunteer Gliding Squadron.
For five of the cadets it was their first experience of gliding within the ATC. The day was a great success, helped by the excellent weather which allowed the successful completion of the first stage of the gliding induction course.
Cadet Dickie, who had already completed the first stage of the GIC was allowed to complete the next and more advanced stage of training.

On Sunday 6th of May 2007 1297 Sqn took part in the inter-wing athletics at the Chris Anderson Stadium in Aberdeen.
8 of our cdts made up the team that would try their hand at events
like, the 100m,Long jump and many more. The cdts did well on the day
winning several medals including a couple of Golds and earning a placed
on the Wing team to Face off in the Regional finals. Below is the 1297
Team.

Cdt Andrew Duncan & Cdt Matthew Dickie were picked to represent
Scotland & Northern Ireland in the cadet Inter Regional Rugby
Tournament. After a long bus journey from Aberdeen to RAF
Cossford they met up with the Northern Irish cdts and spent the night
preparing for the next days events. In the morning they played
Wales & West who they beat convincingly. The next match was against
North Region and it was a must win game. But the S & NI team
didn't fall to the pressure and went on to the final. And waiting
for them in the final was Central & East, with Scotland &
Northern Ireland going on to win the whole thing for the first time
ever at Junior level.

A group of cdts from 1297 Stonehaven Sqn helped out at a local beach
clean up in Stonehaven on the 1st of April 2007. It was organised by
the Stonehaven Horizon Project.
The Cdts that took part were as follows,
Sgt Chris Holden
Sgt Drew Roberston
Cdt Matthew Dickie
Cdt Andrew Duncan
Cdt Rhys Malcom and Cdt Natalie Matthew.
2 members of staff helped out aswell they were,
Flt Lt Duncan Campbell and CI Scott Cooper. The participants cleaned
from one end of the beach to the other and along the grounds of the
Leisure Centre.

Cadet Lauren Duthie won the 'best cadet award 2006'
of Stonehaven air cadets 1297 squadron. Along with her name being
engraved on the trophy she was also awarded a 30 minute helicopter
flight in Robinson R22.
Cadet Lauren Duthie went on her on the 9th of April 07, she recieved a
certificate and had a great experiance to keep forever.
